Depression
Otherwise known as major depressive disorder or clinical depression, is a common and serious mood disorder. Those who suffer from depression experience persistent feelings of sadness and hopelessness and lose interest in activities they once enjoyed. Aside from the emotional problems caused by depression, individuals can also present with physical symptoms such as chronic pain or digestive issues. To be diagnosed with depression, symptoms must be present for at least two weeks.
My role as a therapist is walking you through your diagnosis, helping you understand how this illness may impact your job, your school (if in school), your personal relationships and pretty much all aspects of your life. It’s also my job to help you navigate this illness by providing as much resources as possible. Finally, I will give you tools and techniques to hopefully improve your symptoms.
